(D) Overnight: Jackson, Mississippi

Day 2 – Columbus, Georgia

Before leaving Jackson this morning we will drive by the state capital complex, with its imposing Beau-arts architecture. Our journey continues across Mississippi and Alabama, passing through Alabama’s lovely capital city of Montgomery. Our overnight stop of Columbus is home to Springer Opera House, the State Theatre of Georgia. We’ll enjoy a production at this 138-year old theatre which barely survived demolition in 1964.

(B,D) Overnight: Columbus, Georgia

Days 3 & 4 – Stunning Savannah/ Dinner Cruise

We begin this morning with a drive through the historic part of Columbus, a  picturesque southern town with gaslights along wide, brick-lined streets. Later we will continue across Georgia to Savannah, the town founded by James Oglethorpe in 1733. A treat this evening will be boarding a riverboat for a delightful dinner cruise on the Savannah River. Tomorrow we’ll enjoy an extensive tour of Savannah and one of its elegant plantations. There’ll be time to enjoy shopping and strolling along Factors Walk.

Day 3 (B,D); Day 4 (B) Overnight: Savannah, Georgia

Days 5, 6 & 7 – Charleston/ Myrtle Beach Theatres/ Brookgreen Gardens

From Savannah we’ll travel to Charleston, South Carolina, a three hundred-year-old city that was the recognized center of southern gentility. We’ll take time to tour the fabulously preserved historic district of this charming city before continuing to our destination for the next three nights - Myrtle Beach. Tomorrow we will visit one of the South’s most beautiful attractions, Brookgreen Gardens, a garden museum founded by railroad heir Archer Huntington and his sculptor wife, Anna Hyatt Huntington. Her influences are seen throughout the garden. Get ready for a rousing evening’s entertainment as we attend the lively Dixieland Theater. The last day in Myrtle Beach will be free to lounge on the beach or explore the unique shopping area of Barefoot Landing before enjoying a lively performance at the Alabama Theatre.

Day 5 (B); Day 6 (B,D); Day 7 (B,D) Overnights: Myrtle Beach, South Carolina
