Wurstfest In New Braunfels
Tour Highlights
Guten Tag, Ya’ll !! (“Good Day” in German). Join our Germany in Texas adventure for great food, music, and fun in the Hill Country towns of New Braunfels and Gruene.
Itinerary
Departing Dallas/ Ft. Worth Metroplex
Days 1, 2 & 3
New
Braunfels
has earned the title of “The German Heritage Center of Texas”. One reason is Wurstfest celebrated once a year since
1961 with good music, good German food and great fun. Come experience the
salute to sausage in this unique Hill Country town where a variety of
German-themed entertainment, food, dancing and special events take place at Landa Park, near a spring-fed river.
Traditionally, there is an outdoor biergarten, waltz and polka contests and
plenty of accordion music. The main attraction is the Wursthalle, a cavernous old cottonseed warehouse lined with tables
where people eat and drink the delicacies bought at the festival. Sample all
kinds of wurst, including bratwurst and Texas
favorites of jalapeno and barbecue. While in the area, we’ll visit the
turn-of-the-century community of Gruene.
Once almost a ghost town, it is now a part of New Braunfels, yet it still retains its charm
and popularity with shoppers. Don’t miss this Texas-style celebration! We
return home on Day 3.
