The Panama Canal is one of the greatest achievements of the 20th century. As you view this engineering marvel, a cruise commentator will fill you in on the stories of extraordinary foresight, sacrifice and triumph of the finished product. This cruise features a fascinating day exploring Gatun Locks and the serene expanses of Gatun Lake. You’ll have an opportunity to see intriguing sights, wildlife-rich islands, sun-dappled jungles, Indian villages. And Half Moon Cay is Holland America’s own private paradise in the Bahamas. The Zuiderdam first set sail in 2002 and is proud of the latest industry and environmental technologies, such as a diesel-electric power plant. At the heart of the ms Zuiderdam, suspended in a three-story atrium, a Waterford Crystal Seahorse sets the mood for exquisite pieces of art that can be seen throughout this elegant ship. Scope out a masterpiece by Andy Warhol, medallions by Frank Lloyd Wright and a massive floral painting by Charles Ben throughout the ship. At port stops, walk in the footsteps of ancient Incans and Mayans as you explore the ruins of bygone empires.

Optional shore excursions are at an additional cost. Prices include airfare from Dallas/Fort Worth; transfers between airport and ship; 10 nights aboard the ms Zuiderdam, which includes meals and entertainment aboard ship. Prices do not include purchases of goods or services aboard ship, gratuity for ship personnel or tour guide on excursions. Cancellation penalties do apply and we recommend Holland America's Protection Plan, available for $159 to $259 per person.
